Gamelatron Swara Alus

Description: Swara Alus in Javanese means the soft sound. But Alus can also mean refined in other contexted. This piece contains 3 main parts all tuned to Slendro from Surakarta, Central Java. A sculptural stem that holds 5 bronze kettle gongs. At the base of the stem is a ketuk, often used as a musical metronome, above it are 4 Bongang Penembung. Counter sunk into a credenza is a 7 key metalphone called Saron and mounted to a wall is a 23 inch dimater hanging gong called Kempur.
